Lumbini Khukuri Cricket Club has won the title of Nepal Telecom Rupendehi Super League Cricket Tournament

Feb 16, Rupandehi – Lumbini Khukuri Cricket Club has won the title of Nepal Telecom Rupendehi Super League Cricket Tournament. Lumbini Khukuri defeated Shree Shivashakti Cricket Club Bhairahawa by 55 runs in the final on Wednesday and bagged the title along with Rs 50,000 in cash and a trophy. The runner-up Shivashakti received a prize of Rs. 25,000. 

Batting after winning the toss at the local Siddhartha Stadium, Bhairahawa, Lumbini Khukuri scored 148 runs for the loss of all wickets with one over remaining in the allotted 40 overs. Captain Antim Thapa contributed 45, Ikhlakh Ahmed 35, Shankar Rana 14 and Rohit Poudel 13 runs. In bowling, Bishnu Kataria and Durgesh Kurmi took 3.3 wickets each while Krishna Karki and Akhtar Hussain took one wicket each. 

Chasing the winning target of 149 runs in reply, Shivashakti lost by 93 runs in 27 overs with 3 balls to spare. Durgesh Kurmi of Shivashakti scored 23, Dipchand Sharma 22 and Krishna Karki 15 runs. In bowling, Lumbini Khukuri’s Durgesh Gupta took 4 wickets, Shahid Alam 3, Lal Bahadur Adhikari 2 and Bhim Sunar 1. 

Durgesh Gupta of Lumbini Khukuri was declared Man of the Match. Similarly, Bikram Bhushal of Western Cricket Club Butwal was declared the best player of the tournament. He received Rs 11,000 in cash. Similarly, Lumbini Khukuri’s Sahad Alam and Antim Thapa were declared the best bowlers and batsmen and received Rs 5,000 each. 

Nepal Telecom Rupandehi Supar League was organized by Rupendehi District Cricket Association, sponsored by Nepal Telecom and co-sponsored by Boom Remit, 12 teams participated in the competition.
