CAN unveils new annual cricketing calendar

The CAN unveiled an annual cricketing calendar for the year 2024, systematically incorporating the domestic and international tournaments. The calendar covers the cricketing actions from January to December, encompassing a total of 64 programs.

The highlight of the international calendar is the formation of Nepal ‘A’ side and the busy schedule of the men’s senior team. In addition to the 2024 T20 World Cup, Nepal will be vying for another Asia Cup participation through the ACC Premier Cup in Oman. The WCL 2 tri-series against Namibia and the Netherlands will kick off Nepal’s pathway for the 2027 ODI World Cup. The team will be participating in multiple T20I and ODI series throughout the year, including a proposed first-class series.

The women’s senior team will compete for the Asia Cup qualification through the ACC Women’s Premier Cup in Malaysia. Three bilateral series for Women’s Team are proposed, details of which are to be announced later.

The Men’s U-19 team will participate in the U-19 World Cup in South Africa whereas the women’s U-19 will fight for the World Cup berth through the U-19 Women’s World Cup qualifiers in November.

The domestic calendar has made an attempt to systemize the domestic tournaments, with the window for the Nepal Premier League allocated in November and the introduction of the proposed multi-day tournaments. The PM Cup remains the premier domestic competition for men’s and women’s cricket and heavy emphasis has been made to strengthen the domestic structure.
